As of May 9th, 1,001 confirmed measles cases have been reported across 31 U.S. jurisdictions in 2025, more than triple the total number of cases reported in all of 2024.
Outbreak-driven surge: 93% of 2025 cases are associated with 14 outbreaks, compared to 69% outbreak-associated cases across 16 outbreaks in 2024.
Most patients are unvaccinated: 96% of all confirmed cases are either unvaccinated or have unknown vaccination status; young children under age 5 account for nearly a quarter of all hospitalizations.
